Our mission
Caring for a pet often means digging through outdated websites, conflicting advice, and paywalled tools just to answer a simple question — like how old your dog really is, or how much food they actually need.
bowwowpaw exists to change that. We build free, accurate, easy-to-use calculators grounded in veterinary research, so you can get a trustworthy answer in seconds — no sign-up, no tracking wall, no nonsense.
How we build each calculator
- Peer-reviewed science first. Formulas are based on published veterinary research (e.g. the 2020 Nature Aging epigenetic clock for dog age).
- Breed and size aware. A Chihuahua and a Great Dane don't age the same — our tools account for that.
- Transparent methodology. Every calculator explains what formula it uses and why.
- Mobile-first. Designed to work just as well on your phone at the vet's office as on your laptop at home.
- Privacy-respecting. Calculations run in your browser. We don't store your pet's info.
Who's behind bowwowpaw
bowwowpaw is an independent project built by a designer who loves dogs, cats, and well-crafted tools. It's not backed by a pet food brand or a vet clinic — just a pet parent who wanted better answers than the ones already out there.
What's here today
We're starting with dog-focused tools and expanding into cats, small mammals, and more. Current calculators:
